MINNESOTA MAYHEM 2021: BODY TRANSFORMATION

Three years ago, I never would have thought about even stepping foot onto a stage to show off my progress. I didn’t even think I deserved to be truly “skinny”… as time flew by which to me in real life it hasn’t seemed like it has flown by because when you’re stuck in a rut it feels MISERABLE AF and time comes to a halt. Progress seems to have stopped.

No matter what you do, it seems like nothing is “working” or progressing towards your goals.

I have those days too. They suck. But I keep going.

What I have learned over time is CONSISTENCY IS KEY. Read that again. Do it.

When you keep working towards your goals day in and day out, you are making progress.

Even if your “feels” are telling you that nothing is working. Your feels might just be fucking WRONG! See my proof below.

My Experience entering a Body Transformation competition after extreme weight loss

Eventually, I came to believe I can do anything. I can walk onto the stage and I need to be Freakn Proud of the work I have done.

Was I still nervous? YES!

Did I have fear about what was going to happen? YES!

Did I do it anyways? YES!

Does that mean you can too? ABSOLUTELY, you can!

I had this epiphany…

This weekend I realized that I haven’t done just one body transformation. I am on my second body transformation. I lost 150 pounds – that was a pure extreme weight loss transformation. It was Body transform #1.

NOW, I am working on body transformation number two. I am turning that skinny girl into a strong woman. Now I am working on my fitness transformation.

Neither one is easy. There are hard days and there are relatively easier days.

I was asked when I was on stage about my journey. This is what I said:

It wasn’t just a body transformation, it was a lifestyle transformation. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I do hard work every day.

I wanted to say a lot more but I was getting overwhelmed with emotions and didn’t want to ugly cry on stage. Watch my video to see my whole experience on stage at Minnesota Mayhem 2021 in Duluth, MN.

WHAT I LEARNED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE

  1. Strong women support and encourage other women even when they are on stage competing against one another.
  2. Next time, practice a better T walk, practice more public speaking, practice more quarter turn posing.
  3. Basically, keep improving and practicing.
  4. Ask a lot of questions, people are there to help.

MY FAVORITE HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Watching the Special Needs Female competitor, Fiona
  2. Owen, my 9 yo, asking where my sword was (winners were awarded swords & battle axes)
  3. Seeing how supportive other women were to each other backstage and on stage
  4. Feeling like a champion because of the kind words of strangers
  5. Thinking “Oh Crap” I can’t remember what is Left or Right, SHIT!
  6. Putting my own personality into my performance

This was my second competition this year. It was hosted by Natty Revolution, promoted by Courtney & Tony Spaeth. My first competition was a NANBF, Natural Iowa promoted by Ryan Irwin.

In my next article, I will talk about the costs involved in entering a Body Transformation Competition.
